RIPE63 & 15 Years of VIX
On the occasion of 15 Years of Vienna Internet eXchange ACOnet supported the RIPE63 Meeting in Vienna. A RIPE Meeting is a five-day event where Internet service providers, network operators and other interested parties from Europe and the surrounding regions gather.

Besides 35 other National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), ACOnet is part of GÉANT, a fast and reliable pan-European data network serving Europe’s research and education community.

Topology
ACOnet switches with routing capabilities in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Leoben and Eisenstadt are connected with Gigabit Ethernet over DWDM-technology. With this infrastructure and the appropriate network protocols all ACOnet members have powerful connectivity to the global Internet and to different network services in Austria. The PoPs in Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt and Graz are connected to Vienna in a redundant manner via DWDM rings.
