Our new office is located at Ebendorferstraße 10, 1010 Vienna (left entrance behind doorway), only two walking minutes away from the NIG (old location)!

Level 3 - New Internet Upstream Provider for ACOnet
End of 2007 the Frankfurt based Level 3 Communications GmbH did win the EU-wide tender regarding a fully redundant global Internet-Upstream for ACOnet. ACOnet's commercial upstream migration from Sprint to Level 3 was successfully completed on January 31st, 2008.

Topology
ACOnet switches with routing capabilities in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Leoben and Eisenstadt are connected with Gigabit Ethernet over DWDM-technology. With this infrastructure and the appropriate network protocols all ACOnet members have powerful connectivity to the global Internet and to different network services in Austria. The PoPs in Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt and Graz are connected to Vienna in a redundant manner via DWDM rings. [more]
eduroam
eduroam stands for "Education Roaming" and allows users of participating institutions to access the Internet at other participants using their home institution's credentials. All this with a minimal adminstrative overhead. Depending on local policies at the visited institutions, eduroam participants may also have additional resources at their disposal. [more]
