Community Services
In addition to the powerful backbone service, ACOnet provides a set of additional services for its participants.
ACOnet presently offers the following services:
- Internet Connectivity
- GovIX
- Local Internet Registry (LIR)
- IPv6
- ACOnet Identity Federation
- eduroam
- The Wireless-LAN roaming infrastructure of the European National Research Networks (NRENs), allowing users of participating institutions to easily connect to any eduroam-enabled hotspot in Europe
- Administration of TLS/SSL Server Certificates based on the TERENA Certificate Service (TCS)
- Globally valid and accepted certificates, without license costs
- Administration of the domain ac.at
- Recursive Nameserver
- Timeserver
- eduPERT
- ACOnet Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT)
- The ACOnet-CERT helps participants in preventing security-related incidents. It handles reported security problems within ACOnet and coordinates appropriate countermeasures.
- Customer Care
- VCampus Student Dormitory connection
- Including the "NightLine", which - during the night - allows to exceeded the contracted bandwidth by a factor of 8
- Web Portal
- Virtual private networks
- Virtual networks separated from the regular traffic for specific applications (e.g. VoIP, Multicast) or for closed user groups (e.g. governmental institutions)
- LightPath-Services
- Virtual leased lines for (transient) international projects, requiring stable and deterministic performance
