European Cyber Security Month (ECSM) is organized every October at EU level to raise awareness of IT security issues. GÉANT also participates regularly in ECSM - this year with a campaign focusing on AI-driven threats. The campaign's information materials and webinars are available online.

The 27th meeting on "Art, Culture, and IT" will take place on 21 October 2025 at the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art. Its temporary location at the Otto Wagner Areal on Baumgartner Höhe is surrounded by legendary Art Nouveau architectural gems, which we will explore on a guided tour before turning our attention to the topic of AI Act.

Welcome to ACOnet!

ACOnet is the Austrian National Research and Education Network (NREN) for science, research, education, art and culture. It is operated by the Vienna University Computer Center, in co-operation with other universities in Austria.

ACOnet provides a nation-wide fibre optic backbone with high-performance access to international academic networks via GÉANT, as well as to the Internet. Furthermore, ACOnet offers its participants various target-group-specific services to support research projects and communities.


ACOnet and COVID-19:

The ACOnet team is working from the home office again since 19 November 2021. Our availability has not changed, however. You can reach us Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, CEST; preferably by e-mail but also by phone (see contact information). In the case of an emergency you may also call us outside our office hours and leave a message. If necessary, we will call back swiftly.

Stopline, initiated by the ISPA in 1998, is the officially authorized online reporting centre against depictions of sexual abuse involving minors and evidence of endorsement of National Socialist ideology on the internet. Here, users can report pages containing such content - even anonymously.

The Stopline team examines these pages and works closely with the providers and law enforcement agencies to ensure that illegal content is removed from the network.
