The current call for innovative ideas around the 'Net is running until July 13th, 2016. Grants are available for Open Source projects that promote the Austrian internet as well as scientific papers. Additionally, there are special grants for ideas regarding the "Internet of Things" and "Internet for Refugees".

Eduroam has been deployed to parts of the public WiFi infrastructure run by the City of Vienna. The coverage is to be extended to Vienna's outer districts within the year.

On July 17, 2015 a test run for eduroam was started for a joint use of the wien.at Public WiFi Infrastructure. Initially eduroam is available at the "Donauinsel" (Danube Island) and subsequently also in the city center. Consequently eduroam will not only be present at ACOnet participants.
