The ACOnet backbone has recently been equipped with even stronger external uplinks: We have doubled the connection to our upstream provider Hurricane Electric to 20 Gbps and the bandwidth of the fiber triangle Bratislava-Brno-Vienna to 40 Gbps. The connection to the Vienna Internet eXchange has been increased to 2x30 (previously 2x20) Gbps.

"Summer of HPC" is an annual PRACE programme that offers summer placements at High Performance Computing centres across Europe to late-stage undergraduate and master’s students. The programme will run fully online in July and August 2021. Applications are open until 12 April 2021.

The EuroHPC Summit Week (EHPCSW) 2021, an annual conference on the subject of high performance computing, will be held online from 22-26 March, 2021. The main focus this year is on COVID-19 research. Participation is free of charge.

In future, research institutions will be able to transmit quantum information and carry out precision measurements via the "Austrian Quantum Fiber Network" (AQUnet), an Austria-wide fibre optic network. The FFG-funded project, which is coordinated by the ACONET Association and the TU Vienna, complements the new tender for the ACOnet backbone.
